Sandrine Mattei
Sandrine Mattei was born on the Mediterranean island of Corsica in France. She grew up studying the arts, and trained to become a professional ballerina at The National Superior Conservatories of Music and Dance in Nice and Paris, France. After graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Literature and Language, Ms. Mattei won several ballet and contemporary competitions with the National Federation of Dance in France and Europe. At the age of 15, she was mentored by Rita Poelvoorde, a principal dancer with Béjart Ballet Lausanne, and was invited to summer intensives at the Royal Ballet of Flanders school in Antwerp under the direction of Robert Denvers.
Ms. Mattei started her professional career with the The National Opera Ballet Theater of Bordeaux, France. After dancing with the company and freelancing in Paris and across Europe, she “ran away with the circus” in Las Vegas when she was offered a contract with Cirque du Soleil's brand new production, “The Beatles LOVE” at the Mirage Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, a three-time Grammy award winner. Miss Sandrine also performed as a Soloist for Cirque du Soleil's original production, “Mystère.”
Ms. Mattei also has extensive experience in commercial dance. During her years with Cirque du Soleil, she worked and performed in The Grammy Awards and in MusiCares with Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, and was a guest performer on America’s Got Talent finale, The NHL Awards, The Latin Grammy Awards, and The GLAAD Media Awards, and performed in the Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away 3D movie, directed by James Cameron.
Ms. Mattei also was the Cirque du Soleil's dance captain and artist coach, and was featured in Dance Spirit Magazine for her role as “Leading the cast of Love," by Cirque du Soleil.
